About Anton McMurray

Anton Mc Murray creates unique pieces of sculpture on both an intimate and monumental scale.

He examines the intricate details in nature, marvelling their beauty and suitability to task. Inspired by these fundamental structures of organic growth he builds upon this information in the making of new work.

Born in London, Anton moved to Australia with his family for an adventurous childhood in the hills east of Melbourne. He studied sculpture at the Victorian College of Arts and the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, graduating with a Bachelors degree in 1998.

In 2003 Anton represented Australia in the Inami sculpture Symposium in Japan carving a new work for permanent public display.

Currently he lives and works in Melbourne, creating artwork for exhibition and private commission.

Anton’s most recent work has been unveiled this October as part of the 2009 Lorne Sculpture Exhibition.
